    • Graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelors of Art in Painting and Printmaking, 1978

    • Graduated from San Diego State University with a Masters of Science in Counselor Education, 1980


Noteworthy Lifetime Events

    • Worked fulltime at NAS North Island in the Data Processing Dept. (That introduction to the old mainframes was my first taste of Computer mania! Ever see an "IBM punch card?")

    • Joined El Centro Cultural de La Raza, 1973. Learned to Play Corridos, Cantos revolucionarios,and Native American songs.

    • Joined Los Servidores Del Arbol de la Vida 1973. Learned Chicano versions of traditional Mexican religious and Azteca dance ceremonial chants. Met Capitán Andres Segura.

    • Participated in the 1974 TENAZ-C.L.E.T.A. UNAM Teatro Festival, held in Teotihuacan, Mexico City and Tajin, Veracruz.

    • Joined Teatro Mestizo, 1974 & The Ballet Folklorico en Aztlan

    • Participated in the 1975 TENAZ Teatro Festival, held in San Antonio,Texas

    •  Joined Los Alacranes Mojados, Chicano Traditional Mexican Music Group: 1978

  • Met Maestro Florencio Xoxoxoqui Yescas at Calle Revolución, in Tijuana, Baja California: Nov. 1974

  • Met Florencio once again at the Casa de Alurista (then being rented by Juan Felipe Herrera): Dec. 1974

  • Began workshops with Florencio at the Centro Cultural De La Raza, in Balboa Park, San Diego: Jan. 1975

  • Became part of Florencio's historic Azteca dance group ESPLENDOR AZTECA:Feb. 1975

  • Went to Austin Texas with Florencio and Juan Felipe to University of Texas, Austin Chicano Poety Conference: March 1975

  • My first danza group TOLTECAS EN AZTLAN was inaugurated Felipe Esparza, Tupac Enrique, Guillermo Aranda, Guillermo Rosette, and AZTLECA, and myself: June 1975 Señora Enrique asked me to lead and teach what I had learned from Jefe Florencio

  • Under the orders of Florencio, I went to Mexico City to receive the title of Capitán (traditional leader) of my own palabra (dance circle): Dec. 12, 1980. This was the beginning of DANZA MEXI'CAYOTL.

  • 1987, Our dance circle incorporates as the California Non-Profit Coproration "The Mexi'cayotl Indio Cultural Center."
    We dedicate ourselves to "teach and preserve the Native American Heritage of the southwestern United States and Mexico."

  • 1992 Our cultural center receives IRS 501(c)(3) status from the IRS!
